: geometry yet. If you haven't heard of compounded plywood yet, it consists
: of cutting out two hull halves, joining them along the keel, and then
: opening it like a book and supporting the result while you tape the keel
: seam. The plywood is forced into compound curvature, so you get a round
: bottomed boat from plywood. It's just difficult to get the geometry you
: want. CLC has some designs (Pokomoke, Yare) but with these the plywood
: bends mostly near the keel, so you get a sort-of deep vee hull with a lot
: of flare. Stillwater boats has a nice looking hull section, but they get
: it by cutting gores (notches?) alond the gunnels. When these are closed
: they leave discontinuities along the shear. With your masonite mold you
: could maybe smooth these out also.

I'v built a yare... and the design is much more simple then it appears. it is simply that each piece should have the dimensions of the shape you want the keel to have... for the shear you should just make it too big then cut the masonite down when you are done... making a tortured ply mold would be tuff... becvause simply pulling the ends together dousen't bring the shear in where you need it. you need to add deck beams and the deck to really get them to stay up
