: Hi, many thanks to all of you who answered my previous questions. This BB is
: a great help to someone a little bit isolated ( like me ! ) However, now I
: have one more question... I am building a Guillemot. I have installed the
: cockpit recess as per Nicks book. I plan to install the vertical strips
: and then laminate an oak lip outside them.

: My question is, what distance should there be from the deck to the lip ? The
: book just says ( ... make sure the lip is equidistant from the deck all
: the way round... ) but not any recommendation as to the height.

: I plan on installing a lip which is 5/8" wide and 7/16" high.

: Many thanks in advance.

I am just finishing my Guillemot and the lip height I used the same. The reason I used 7/16" wide was that a wider lip was hard to bend without the thinner strips buckling as I tried to follow the contour of the deck. Each strip was about 1/16" thick spruce.
