Hi, many thanks to all of you who answered my previous questions. This BB is a great help to someone a little bit isolated ( like me ! ) However, now I have one more question... I am building a Guillemot. I have installed the cockpit recess as per Nicks book. I plan to install the vertical strips and then laminate an oak lip outside them.

My question is, what distance should there be from the deck to the lip ? The book just says ( ... make sure the lip is equidistant from the deck all the way round... ) but not any recommendation as to the height.

I plan on installing a lip which is 5/8" wide and 7/16" high.
