Spidey, I precoated the 3 and 4mm ply panels on my N.B. as an experiment in using as little resin as possible. Rolled on a light coat then squeeged a lot right back out of the wood. Then built the boat later on. In my experience with this one boat, which isn't much to go on but is significantly different than 8 previous overbuilt ply boats, the hull is not very ding resistant. I've used the boat a lot, and although the 4oz s-glass doesn't seem to fracture as easily as regular glass the core plywood just isn't as hard as I am used to. A friends Coho that I built with the same cloth but a more generous wetout on dry wood is harder. So somewhere between too much and not enough is just right but it's more than is necessary to lightly seal the wood in my opinion. Anyway I'm sure all these works will be tallied up at heavens gate for their respective importance. cheers-lee
