Sanding is a sign of addiction? Good thing my bishop is planning to come to help sand & varnish my Artic Tern... it will probably be safer to have an ecclesiastical authority figure present for such a dangerous operation -- lest I wind up in some rehab unit..... I don't think there's a chapter of Boatbuilders Anonymous anywhere near where I live.)

I did the stitch & glue (a stripper canoe is the next project)... so my experience isn't quite analagous -- but the extent of my pre-epoxy sanding was to remove the smudges of wood-flour thickened epoxy from the panel surfaces along the seams. Under the glass & epoxy fill coats, there is no discernable difference between the areas I'd sanded to 180 grit and those I'd left at 100 grit (I'd used 60 grit to "scrub" the smudges/smears back to bare wood.)
