Hi Ian, You are right, some other quick setting glue would accomplish the bonding faster but I chose epoxy for three reasons. 1) Because the rail is so close to the sheerline, it would by in the way of taping the deck and hull together, so it had to be removable. 2) I thought that epoxy would separate from the plastic easily, which it did when it was hard enough. By the way, it was bonded right after inside glassing so it did not take any more time. 3) If something goes wrong it can be replaced or modified with the greatest ease and the bond will never budge (hot or cold)
