I built one several years ago. It is usually my first choice boat for a long dry paddle. I've built several other CLC designs. You will find it easy to build. It can pack dry bags inside for an overnighter. I would not build one with bulkheads. I have inflatable bags inside to provide some buoyancy.

The length is no disadvantage as far as I can see. If you built it to the plans it should be much lighter than a stripper.
