Actually, I used 100-grit on an orbital sander -- nothing finer. You're right that it should be an easy fix, I was just curious to see if anyone else had found a problem with walnut.

I have some photos, but haven't scanned them and don't have a way to post them at the moment. I gave away my home PC to my sister who's gone back to school for her master's. I haven't posted much over the last couple of months. All I can do is yak with you guys from my CAD station here at work.

Also, some lethargy set in over the winter, and I am just now getting energized to finish this thing up. I have been a bit bummed after the hull didn't come out to the level of quality that I would have liked. I found after glassing of the hull that I had missed smoothing out some deeper cross-strip scratches from the fairing stage, and also had some gassing problems. The deck looks nice aside from the fact that I used 6-oz. cloth which is a little too easily seen in direct sunlight. I just have to remind myself that this is only my first stripper, and that I will eventually build a Ross-Leidy-quality boat some day...;-) I plan on attending the Newfound Rendezvous this fall, so I will probably be fired up about building boat #3 when I see all of the other kayaks out there.
