Just to taunt you. If you think the Record is nice, try to get your hands on a block plane from Lie Nielsen http://www.lie-nielsen.com/

Even there less adjustable block planes are awe inspiring, not just in looks and cost, but performance. They look like they should be placed in a glass case and broken out only for planing emergencies, and their cost may give you that impression as well. But they fit right into your hand and cut so well that you won't want to use anything else.

So, on second thought, don't try one until you have at least $95 burning a hole in your pocket.
