I think it would be a great idea (I agree with the tape problem - also the tape won't stick to the wood as well as it does to the glass) but there is one major job that you haven't done the at is best done with the deck off and both sides glassed. That's the hatch work. I wouldn't want to cut hatches with out both sides glassed and any work done to get ready for gaskets is best done with the deck upside down. Now if you are building with no hatches then I would consider your approach myself. Earl
