I don't know about the "complete" handy man. I heard he only had 9 3/4 fingers. And I'll bet the next time Marcello nips a finger with one of those power tools you'll learn some brand new words.

Seriously, though, you bring up an interesting concept: You are planning to travel to parishoners who have tools. Others on this board have tools and might be equally interested in travelling. Sounds like a good fit here.

It seems to me that vacation schedules might be arranged such that campsites and pizzas might be exchanged for use of router tables, staple guns and help in ripping strips or laying fiberglass. After the work for the day is done, it would be enjoyable to have a local guide for a few hours paddling on whatever the local waterway is.

Granted, there is a big safety issue here about meeting total strangers over the internet, but if some way can be found to get that issue resolved, boat building can be a good way to change strangers into close friends.
