On my saw horses that hold the strongback I have a cross member that sticks out on each side and supports a 2 x 12. so I have a shelf on each side of the boat. I use a low angle Stanley block plane and just hold the strip on edgo on the shelf. I takes me all of about 30 seconds to do a strip. You can over-bevel a bit so your tightest joint is on the outside. there's areas along the shear where the bevel varies from gentle to strong as the strip goes to the back of the boat. Here I might spend more time and trial fitting of the bevel. But even a tough area will take me about 2 minutes.

Believe me, I tell this to many people, - after you do about 4 strips you're on your way and get really good at it. I spend more time fitting ends than on the bevel. A two ended strip might take me 5 minutes or longer to get really perfect. I not only use a block plane but sometimes I finish the ends with a long sanding board 2" x 14" `with 80 grit sanding belt glued to it.
