Get in touch with George Dyson. I've posted an address a few months ago, and he should be easily found in the Baidarka list, too. He sells fabrics made in several thicknesses and fibers. The prices are quite reasonable, and if you ask for a price list you might also ask for a few swatches of the fabrics so you can see and feel the materials.

If you plan to go with canvas, get a free price list from ClarkCraft (www.clarkcraft.com) I thought their prices were reasonable, and their material is heavier (stronger) than the canvas I've bought at the local fabric store. Go for the best quality you can afford. If your fabric is wide enough you can cover a 17 foot boat with a bit over 6 yards. The difference between $8 a yard quality fabric and $5 a yard bargain fabric is only about $20. Since the rest of the boat is so inexpensive, put your money here and you will get a longer lasting boat.

Good luck with your building.
