Yes, I built using the 1/4" luan from Home Depot. I built the 13.5' Mill Creek.

You won't have any problems doing the end bends. That was simple enough to do, though it took far more stitching at the ends then tends to be let on. After some ripping out of my wires, I simply stitched the ends at 1/2" intervals, and that solved the problem completely. On the second hull I stitched, I beveled the edges of the panels, and that helped fitting them together greatly.

As far as strength goes, that luan is strong. I managed to drop my wired together hull from the ceiling down onto the concrete slab, and then fell off the freezer landing on its side. It went "boing" and tossed me off. No damage whatsoever. Which should have clued me in that I really didn't need to go nuts with the excess glassing I did.

The toughest bending job is doing the deck if you try the curved CLC type. I lost and gave up. Went with a strip/planked deck instead. Rather half arsed, but it looks nice and works. Little tricky since there were long unsupported spans, but it wasn't insurmountable by any means.
