Assume you're planning on a build from plans vs. a kit. If you wanted to go with a kit from CLC, you'd get all the okume you'd need for the project and might not be too far behind, financially, especially if you had to have material shipped to you. CLC is big on okume, down on luan --- see the web site Bobby gave you for the rationale. As to cost, they also show numbers indicating that the cost of a kit vs. purchasing materials and plans may not be much of a difference. For what it's worth, CLC's kits went on their winter sale price last week --- good 'til 14 January 00 --- for $75 off regular kit prices. You might actually break even on a kit at these prices.
