I don't know about the Rit dye, but you can use powdered graphite (which I used on all of my seat, not just the final layer), or there are color pigment additives especially for epoxy at your local boat supply store. The graphite has the added benefit of providing UV protection. The pigments may not. Edgar Kleindinst may be able to comment on this. I believe he used color on his recessed hatch lip.
