One other thing to think about is gluing --- or maybe just duct-taping, for a start --- some thin closed cell foam over the back of the coaming. It won't make you lower --- and, in fact, will raise you up an eighth of an inch, I suppose --- but it will make the lean-back a lot less uncomfortable and your roll a lot more viable. Works well on my Pintail and on my North Bay --- both of which have pretty low back decks, anyway --- and it might help in this situation. Worth a little foam and tape, anyway.
