Hi Dean, Long cedar is difficult to come by, but it can be done. Those old swamps in the Upper Peninsula have some great trees, but that wood comes out of there in the winter. If you want some custom cut you are a year away from your wood - I've done it. You can contact some of the lumbermen up in Seney and they might find you some. Some of the log cabin manufactures might also help you out. Don't worry about scarfing, you are going to have so much dust, from so many sources, that a little more is not a problem.

Some additional advise, mix up your wood. Get some color into the boat, use a lot of accent strips. It will look much more like a wood boat.
