I don't have any answers to your question, since I am just starting to build my Mill Creek 13 from plans. You said that the bow is 30 inches out ahead of where the water hits the hull when you are paddling. That seems like you are too far back in the boat. Did you build your Mill Creek from a kit, plans from CLC, or the plans in Woodenboat? I would think that you will have to move your seat forward.
