In Response To: eskimo roll in a PYGMY? (Toni Lipton)

Being new to kayaking, I hadn't tried rolling until a recent symposium where I learned in my Tern. I still have to add a bit more padding in the hip areas, but was able to perform the roll well with only the stock Thermarest seat and knee braces.

That said, I am already looking to build a lower-volume boat with a smaller cockpit to get a better fit. That's one of the drawbacks of being too far from either coast (I'm in Michigan) to test-paddle one of the kit boats. I found that even in my firly average male 5'10" 180# bod I feel that the boat is a bit too big for my needs. I plan on foregoing the convenience of being able to a enter the large cockpit in surf easier for a more snug fit...
