I took my new Arctic Tern out and practiced rolling and found that it rolled just fine. I had not even put any padding in at that point, and did use the thermarest seat. I believe that the most important thing is technique. Once you have your roll down, you can roll just about anything, even without the ideal conditions and setup. Once you add your custom padding and braces, and have your technique down, the Arctic Tern will perform admirably.
