Amine Blush does appear to be the culprit. I am hapy to report that I sort of forgot about this, since I use MAS Slow Cure epoxy, which means that I never have to think about amine blush.

I met a guy from West at the Portland Wooden boat show a while back, who described amine blush as being 'hydroscopic' - drop a speck of the blush into a sink and watch the thing forcefully dissolve and the film spread out over the water surface in a chemical reaction to the water. He concluded that therefore a wet rag should be enough, for overkill use a little dishwash detergent. The solvent wash might have been overkill, also might not work as well as water.

I believe that West also offers a blush free product, and that it also takes longer to cure. Same for RAKA. Different chemicals, it just looks the same.

The delay in curing is ok for me, when building a boat I work (cut measure sand etc) for 1-2 hours, put on the epoxy and clear out of the garage for the day.
