I am currently building a double kayak with a large open cockpit like a Klepper an in tend to install bulkheads in the ends for floation.

I will install screw type hatches in the bulkheads as access (mostly for drying out the spaces rather than storage access. These hatches (should be) available at most yacht supply stores (west marine etc.) and are used on some production kayaks.
