I don't like the idea of an enclosed space without the ability to air it out. Any humidity that somehow finds its way into this space will have a hard time coming out. If your inside coat is at all porous, the humidity will probably find the weakness and eventually do damage.

While I don't expect this would do any harm right away, over the years, it could become a problem.
