Hi Dan,

3/4" x 1" sheer clamps are your best bet. You can use 1" x 1" but it will be heavier and a little tougher to bend. 3/4 x 3/4 is possible also but by the time you bevel the sheer you will not have as much wood material for the nails & screws to fasten to.

Monoghan should have 3/4" x 1" material. Ask for mahogany, or spruce. If they're the ones that were looking at you strange, ask for Brad (the owner) and tell him I sent you.
