That's an interesting comment. I have never noticed my bow burying excessively. It does sometimes bury a little, but never enough to have concerned me even in 3-4' chop going downwind (that was FUN!). I sit as far back as possible. I never bothered with the adjustable backrest, as the cockpit itself is my backrest. I just positioned the creature comfort seat so the back is comfortable. Also, I have heard but not tried, that the boat paddles significantly better with ballast in the aft compartment.
