Question: Would moving your body (or gear) aft a bit affect this significantly?

It seems to me that in most boats shifting some weight aft would make the bow ride higher. Wouldn't this give a similar effect to that found in a boat which is designed with increased bow bouyancy? That is, the bow would DECREASE its tendency to bury the bow in waves. On the other hand, if the weight is too far forward, then doesn't the bow have a greater tendency to get buried? I imagine there would be other trade-offs in performance, but it seems a simple thing to do when conditions warrant. Probably a lot simpler than redesigning a boat. Am I being TOO simple here? Does this work/not work (pick one) with this particular boat?

Answers appreciated. Thanks.
