Even with the forms from the kit, the strips tend to pull away from this form. The best way I found to deal with it was to put on two or three strips very quickly and then use a belt with a ratchet around the form and tighten the strips down. When the glue dries, the strips will stay in position.

However, on the first Guillemot I built, I did not worry about the fact that the strips were about 1/4 inch above the forms. The kayak still looked and performed very well.
