Hinges on a hatch actually sounds like an interesting idea. That way you have conquered a holding device with functional meaning rather than pulling bungees and straps over a cover plate. If you work it so the hinges and latch pull it snug before putting on gasket material, the adding of the gasket should get crushed nicely. The more I think about it, the more I like it. It's actually brilliant. Why do we have to take the cover off ?? They make those nice black plastic hinges now too. When you think about all the craziness people go through to make a removiable cover plate. Why?
