What Marc said. If you don't get it completely dry you risk getting rot in the core. You really don't want to get rot started it's not fun to get rid of.

You also need the glass removed to check for rot, no way to tell after it's gotten wet without having the skin removed to check to see if the wood is still firm (stab with a sharp knife tip) pretty easy to tell if it's soft it needs removed past the point where it's soft to insure that no rot spores remain.
