Strip: Using a sheer clamp

I suffered through again the roll-on epoxied glass tape method in attaching hull to deck. It went mostly OK, but I'm beginning to wonder if the grass is not greener in using a sheer clamp. I have not seen a lot of detail on this, except where one uses screws. Looking at E.T.s Pole Dancer photos, I'm sure there were no screws involved, but not so sure if there was a follow up glass strip over the sheer clamp.
What are your experiences and recommendations?
