Hoping someone here might be able to give me some ideas. I want to build a small kayak for my soon to be six year old son. I have built 2 strip canoes in the past. My issue is the lack of designs and plans for what i want. There is Nick's IO, wood duckling, as well as some yost designs, but I want to build S&G, or cedar strip, not skin on frame. Also, i want a kayak in the 8- 10 foot range ( wish Nick ha a model bewteen IO and Little Auk). Anyway, is it possible to stretch a model like IO to 8 feet, or perhaps build a yost design like a kidarka in cedar strip? Im thinking perhaps using the offsets to make station forms, round the chines, and take off 1/4" to account for strip thickness...Or perhaps someone knows of some other 8-10' designs I may not be aware of? Anyway, if anyone has any ideas I would love to hear them.
