I tried velcro, but had trouble finding a contact cement that would do the job.

So now I make my closed cell foam seat a very tight fit between the cheek plates. The seat is a very tight fit , so it doesn't move. I have cut the side of the seat slightly narrower over the width of the cheek plate plus an extra amount for adjustment.

I find that system simple and effective. The seat doesn't move. It can be easily adjusted. It can easily be removed to make it easier to mop up water in the cockpit.
