I totally concur with JohnA. That said, I was going to suggest that you could glass at the same time. I usually lay out the glass on the unsealed hull making sure it is laid out exactly where it needs to be, the mix up a large batch of epoxy, probably about 300 MLS, then use two squeegees and start spreading after pouring the whole batch along the keel line, not including the last two feet of each end of the hull. This does mean you have to do fast work but it works very well for me. I use gentle pressure on the squeegees and stop swiping when the glass weave starts to show. The entire process will take me about 1-2 hrs (epoxy application only) and generally yields excellent results. During the application time I keep an eye on the formation of runs and smooth them away as I see them. I have built 6 kayaks now so I would imagine that I do not have to think about the process as my h as you would. Trusts me, when I did my first hull, I was scared. 100 ml batch sizes are a really nice size to work with. If you are ever in doubt about a batch and if you added the correct amounts of gardener and resin, throw it out and do it again. Better to waste a batch than mess up your boat. I hope this helps.
