Good afternoon,

I have the Porter Cable 382 and I love it. It doesn't vibrate as much as the Milwaukee that I have had two of, and it has lasted much longer. I also appreciate that they give you a spare for the plastic ring that makes it randomly orbit and is the part that wears out on ANY ROS. I have always gravitated towards Porter Cable tools due to the high quality of tools I have gotten from them. I understand that now they have changed and I can see a difference in the construction of their tools- seem to be more plasticy. The ROS, however, is a good one.

A lot of talk going on in this thread about Festool. This is going to sound silly, but it always turned me off that their name appears to be a combination of "Feces" and "Stool"!!! Anyway, I never could bring myself to pay the huge amount for one. Their ROS costs what my table saw cost. That said, The ROS is certainly my most-used handheld power tool, so if I ever went big on just one tool I guess that's where I would drop my money- on a good ROS. I am still of the belief that they are over-priced, but I will say that I have never ever heard any bad about them, and they always end up on top of the test results.

Cheers,

Malcolm
