What do people think is the best ROS out there now?

Yeah, I looked hard at the Festool RO125. For the BIG extra cost I didn't find it that much more vibration free than my old Bosch. And for stripper building, I feel the offset handle body is not the best.

To really take advantage of the ROSs power to keep a fair surface it should be light weight, with a mostly one hand hold, right over the disk, so the sander rides flat. The cutting aggressiveness of a good ROS for strippers, is all in disk speed, not power, or disk size. You should be able to hold it lightly, even lifting it off the surface now and then to keep the disk speed high and floating over the surface to maintain a fair surface. Let the strips do what they do naturally, create a fair surface. By lightly going over the surface with a one hand ROS to follow the curves you will keep the surfaces fair.

I settled on the Makita BO5021-K 5" variable speed sander. It has a "D" handle but you can use it comfortably with one hand and use two whenever you need to. The dust outlet is a round tube which fits nicely into a hose reduced made by Fein. Coupled with a Fein Turbo tool activated vacuum and you have it all with a lot more money left in your pocket then if you bought Festool.

I've used this set-up for a few years now and love it.
