Me too!

I'm 6'2" and I dislike boats that have me straight legged in the cockpit. When I designed that boat I took some basic size measurements off my brother's Valley Pintail (deck height) because most people (incl me) are quite comfortable in it.

With any boat that has an ocean cockpit and you do decide to make a full size cockpit, you loose knee height. As you cut the oval of the cockpit opening, you are creating a flat oval from the back of the cockpit forward (to the forward point of the deck). You have literally cut off the highest part of the deck. When you put thigh braces in, you will have your knees in a lower position that if you left the small cockpit opening. It's because the sides of that oval run longer and lower than a short oval would. So, If you do make a larger cockpit from any design with an ocean cockpit, you should raise the deck a bit unless you want less room

Fit and comfort are very personal things. I just wanted to let people know how that works because it's not immediately obvious. Large cockpits are overall the most common and I too like them as long as the thigh braces are really angled in and large enough. With the ocean cockpit, I am never pressing out with my thighs trying for a good grip. It's just always there when I want it and it's something I like the feel of. I also like the look of boats with a long sleek deck.
