We all know that everything on a watercraft must have a name. These names range from the prosaic: "deck", "mast", and "hatch", to the esoteric: "cunningham", "inwale", and "tumblehome". What does one call the concavity that you see near the bow of some kayaks and canoes? Shown in the photo below on a Wee Lassie 2 currently on the ways.

I was able to suss out the "clipper bow" that involves both this concavity and the long concave stem overhang that blends into the bowsprit of a clipper ship. But I can't imagine one describing a canoe bow by equating it with the signature bow of a clipper ship. How about just the concavity of the hull near the bow?
