Skin-on-Frame: Skin maintenance and feet support *PIC*

I have a couple of questions related to maintenance of a skin-on-frame kayak. I've now had my first Yost-design boat for a year (8oz nylon with Zar poly) and am noticing the wear points. Obviously, the bottom of the bow and stern are taking abuse -- I'm planning on adding ash strips to both places (similar to what I've seen on other boats). I'm also seeing issues where the paddler's feet rest directly on the skin (see photo) and where crud (small rocks and sand) is accumulating between the skin and the keel.

Besides a sea sock, how do you deal with crud that gets in the boat? And, have you seen similar wear under the paddler's heels? ...any way to address?

Thanks,

Eric

Note: I did use a pigment in one of the layers of Zar that doesn't seem to have adhered very well.
