: Thanks, Dave Gentry also recommended a Yost boat. It seemed too
: small but your reply is helping me to understand.

: Actually I'm thinking two solo boats. This as much about a dad
: daughters first teaching workshop project. I have a stripper
: Prospector for team paddling.

: The above plans include an option for a 16'9" boat of the same
: dimensions. I'm big, 6' 2" 240#s, maybe someday the plans
: will work for me.

I, too, recommend a Yost boat. We are in the process of building a Sea Bea for my 12 year old son. He's over 5'4" and weighs 110 lb so even the larger of the kid boats were out of the question. Building with your kids is good but it takes about 4 times as long. Spend some time with the pieces and figure out what you are going to do BEFORE you bring the kids in for a day's work. I've had to rethink a couple times ("I thought the instructions said...") and even the best kid gets bored at that point. But when they are actively engaged in the process it is worth the extra time.
