I forgot to mention:
Another possibility is to rip the strips off the 'outside' of the plank, but this requires moving the fence for each cut.
It does eliminate the (safety) problem of the thin strip between the blade and fence.

On my bandsaw, I have a 'Driftmaster' fence, which has a leadscrew arrangement. On a table saw, it wouldn't be difficult to improvise a fence with a stop and indexing block to advance the fence a standard distance.
