BTW, 3M ? colored vinyls are thinner than regular black electrical tape, wrap into waterproofness obver cable connectors.
Plastic paints, Rusto and Krylon plastic sprays are suggested and approved, maybe formulated for flex. Plastic wood paints are flexible, peelable adhering more to their own substance than the surface.

Dugout the Wenonah skid plate box. Directions for surface prep are:
“Place canoe upside down” !
“Thoroughly clean and dry hull”
“Thoroughly sand”
“The area should be completely roughed up” but not sanded thru them outer layer
“Wipe out debris” but not rewash, maybe a moisture collection problem here on the upper peninsula.
“Saturate a second rag with rubbing alcohol and scrub the sanded area.”
“Allow to dry completely”

Limited testing with isopropyl ( rubbing) alcohol and denatured as sold: rubbing takes off 2X less surface cleaning Ford underbody paint than denatured.
