Sherm, you're a wannabee, is what you are.

I'm serious, ain't NOBODY as big a sissy as I am. I simply quit paddling kayaks altogether when the water temps fall below 70 degrees (BRR!), and either stick to the shop building next summer's boat or paddle single blade in canoes where I can at least stay 100% dry, dry, dry.

You're off to a good start, drip rings were invented on purpose, all you need is to maybe spiff up the ol' presentation a bit. I've seen (a very few smart) guys weave rawhide shoelaces around their blades to act as drip rings that are efficacious, and even look pretty darn authentic, whatever that may be. I would do it myself, except, well, please refer back to comments above.
