I did and it looks like what I described up above. It's version of the old style ship-lapped, clinch-nailed stripper. The description shows the builder has found a way to put the hull together without having to construct a 300 lb. building mold. But the process he came up with is ten time more time consuming and a lot more tedious. Rather bend the ribs directly on the mold they were made individually on an adjustible jig. At least 60 ribs had to be made and that's probably a low estimate. And because he had no mold to buck the hull against he hand drilled holes for all those clinch-nails. By my calculation between 3000-4000 holes.
Building these beauties in a traditional mold is a fairly daunting process which is why they disappeared from the scene long ago. I think building without a mold makes it even more tedious. In short, it's a nice looking canoe but it's not likely to be the home-built boat of the future.
