Hey Palle,

My wife and I paddle CLC Chesapeake 16's, routinely on extended trips in the Pacific NW. In fact we have done two weekend trips this year and are prepping for a week long excursion next week.

Our boats have 6oz cloth on the hulls and 4oz on the deck. The newest boat is 5 years old and they both look and work very well. I have had one crack generated from being slammed on a water covered rock in particularly nasty tide rip several years ago now. There was no leaking and I was able to finish the trip without any issues. I ended up re-enforcing that spot, and have had no further issues.

This year I added an extra strip of glass along the hull of both boats, mostly because we end up doing some hard landings at times.

Happy Paddling - Eric
