I am building a Nomad (Björn Thomasson design). There is still a lot of work until I get to the glassing part, but I am beginning to consider how much glass i should put on it.
In Nick's book "The Strip-Build Sea Kayak" there is a "Glassing Schedule" (Page 110 in my edition). Here there is 3 different lay-up suggestions. I would like a rugged boat, but "the expedition lay-up" seems to have much more glass than what people normally puts on their kayaks. In some places there is 3 layers of 6 oz glass. Has anyone done this expedition lay-up?

How much should I be concerned about the weigth? I am building a sea kayak. Not a racing kayak. often I will put a lot of gear in it anyway. Sometimes I get the impression that weigth only matters when lifting the kayak to the top of the car and that a few pounds will only make it go a little deeper in the water.
