Strip: Petrel: Shear Connection

I'm closing in on joining the deck to the hull and trying to decide the best way to do it. I'm not wild about trying to place a saturated 3 inch piece of tape on the seam inside the narrow confines of the Petrel using a nail on an 8 foot stick and then finishing it off with a chip brush (also on an 8 foot stick). I am considering a two step process, wetting out half the tape on both sides inside the hull and letting it cure; then assembling and aligning the deck with strapping. I can then position the Petrel on its side to wet out the remaining tape half against the inside of the deck, probably with a 3 inch adhesive roller.

Does this make sense? Have I missed anything? Is there a better way?

Thanks
