: Yes, it makes sense to have a plastic one for the real abuse but a
: wood yak can take quite a beating if there’s a fair bit of
: glass used. These are so small that they’re quite light no
: matter what you add, heh heh. And really, straight fiberglass
: kayaks were used for a long time for major stuff – they just
: had to be fixed once in awhile. If they’re used where there
: are only hard knocks, the war wounds become part of the relevant
: patina.

: As you guessed in your other post, I didn’t outfit it too tight
: inside, so that I can get in and out of it while it is floating
: (while hanging onto logs, docks, cliffs, rocks, pool sides or
: pool stair handrails)

: As for the looks, the panel appearance to this kayak actually has
: it’s roots in sofistry’s 2 ½ piece deck panelization that
: subsequently morphed into another set of kayaks using a 3 deck
: panel approach. Here’s one of them – l’eau rider (ie
: “water rider” – a combo kayak). If you look at sofistry,
: then l'eau rider, and then spurious - you'll see the design
: progression.

: Then the ‘l’eau rider’ approach was mushed together with a
: hull related to ‘facetious’. That’s how spurious ideas
: come about.

Actually the really serious WW kayaks are still made of fiberglass, ie: squirt boats, and they are intended to be as close as possible to the big rocks in the steam rather than trying to miss them :)
