When you listed the Rob Roy and the Wee Lass I immediately thought of the Wee Rob by Ian Oughtred. Like most Oughtred designs it is designed as a glued lapstrake construction but can also be built in strips. It is designed at 12 feet but could be stretched by spacing the frames. It is light and compact yet stable with som good freeboard and a proud bow.

A step up is the Macgregor decked canoe. It's a bit larger at something like 15'6". It would be very stable because it's designed for sail. The plans allow for strip or lapstrake construction and have two sail rigs.
