: Try http://www.lazertran.com

: They have a variety of 'waterslide' papers which you can use in
: laser or inkjet papers. One version dissolves in turpentine.
: Apply the decal to wood, paint on a thin coat of turpentine and
: the decal dissolves away, allowing your image to soak into the
: wood. Way cool.

Paul,

Which of the waterslide materials have you used that is desolved with turpentine? The website warns against using certain laser printers that do not use fusing oil. I have a Brother MFC9840CDW which does not appear in their "approved" list. I am not sure if it qualifys. I have both inkjet and laser printers, but I feel the laser printers may be the best for colorfastness.

I also found a decal website.

http://www.texascraft.com/hps/home.php

Prices are about the same. I don't see the warnings on that site. I would like to try the waterslide decals. That seems that it would be an excellent solution.

I have also tried rice and onion skin papers. I was surprised when I found that the onion skin paper shows up in the background much more than the rice paper (and the rice paper is thicker)

I will post photos of the rice and onion skin results. I also tried overhead plastic sheets. They were nearly perfect and the epoxy adhesion is good. There may be more problems with trapped bubbles on the overhead plastic sheets.
